Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are micro-injections of non-volumising hyaluronic acid (HA), sometimes combined with amino acids or glycerol, to deeply hydrate, improve elasticity, and enhance light reflection. Unlike fillers, boosters don’t change your features; they make skin look fresh, supple, and radiant with minimal downtime.

What skin boosters can (and can’t) do

Can help with:

  • Dehydration, dullness, and loss of glow
  • Fine micro-lines on cheeks, peri-oral skin and under-eye extension zones (selected)
  • Crepey skin on neck, décolleté, and hands
  • Make-up sits better; improved photo/flash response

Cannot replace:

  • Structural volume (see Dermal Fillers)
  • Firmness when laxity is the issue (see Collagen Stimulators)
  • Pigment disorders on their own (pair with Chemical Peels / skincare)

Technique (what to expect)

  • Serial micro-droplets or micro-papules placed intradermally with fine needles; selected zones may use a cannula for smoother spread
  • Conservative first session, then fine-tune at review

Anaesthesia: none or topical.

Time in clinic: ~20 minutes.

Back to routine: immediately; tiny papules usually settle within 12–24 h.

Aftercare & timeline

  • Avoid rubbing, sauna/steam, intense exercise for 24 hours
  • Gentle skincare; SPF 50+ daily; delay facials/laser until advised
  • Light make-up after a few hours when the skin is intact

Onset: glow within days as HA hydrates the dermis

Peak: 2–4 weeks

Typical duration: 4–6 months (area/product/metabolism dependent)

Course & longevity

Most patients benefit from an initial series of 2–3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 4–9 months. Hands and neck often need slightly closer maintenance than cheeks.

Candidacy & safety

Good candidates want better texture, elasticity and radiance without altering facial shape.

We defer boosters with active skin infection, during pregnancy/breastfeeding, or in uncontrolled inflammatory skin disease.

Possible effects: transient redness/blebs, pinpoint bruises, mild swelling/tenderness, temporary dryness/tightness. Rarely, small palpable deposits that settle as HA integrates. As HA is reversible, hyaluronidase is available if clinically required.

Smart combinations

  • Mesobotox for pores/sebum control on T-zone
  • Polynucleotides to support repair and elasticity in delicate areas
  • Chemical Peels for tone/pigment and predictable exfoliation
  • Collagen Stimulators when firmness—not hydration—is the main goal
  • Dermal Fillers

FAQs

Will skin boosters make me look puffy?

No—protocols are non-volumising; the aim is hydration and elasticity, not size.

Selected patients can benefit from careful extension into periorbital skin; we assess edema/festoon risk first.

Usually the same day after a few hours, once papules settle and skin is intact.

Most see improvement after one session; best outcomes with 2–3 treatments, then periodic maintenance.

Boosters hydrate and improve skin quality; fillers reshape/support features. We often combine them for balanced results.
